For operational purposes, BT Traps and DOC‑style traps are functionally equivalent. Both use the same mechanical principles, performance characteristics, and deployment requirements. BT traps are NAWAC‑approved humane kill traps for stoats. Ferret‑approved humane kill traps are listed separately under NAWAC Guideline 09.
There are two series of BT Traps: BT 200 and BT 250 traps.
Each trap is individually calibrated and tested before dispatch to ensure the correct trigger weight for the target species and consistent field performance.
Rats: 90–100 grams (factory setting)
Stoats: 70–80 grams
For large-volume orders, we can calibrate trigger weights to your specific requirements prior to shipment. Please contact us to discuss your project needs.
Safety Bar (Optional Accessory)
A safety bar is available to make baiting and setting the trap safer and easier. (Sold separately.)
We are committed to a more sustainable New Zealand. Instead of using acid-dipping processes, our traps are finished using glass-bead blasting, a cleaner and more environmentally responsible method.
We stock the stainless steel variety of the BT Traps which are good for damp, humid, and salty environments
For more options, see our range of rodent control and stoat control products.
BT Traps are humane kill traps designed for stoat, rat, and hedgehog control. They operate using the same mechanical principles and performance characteristics as DOC‑style traps, making them functionally equivalent for operational use.
BT Traps are NAWAC‑approved humane kill traps for stoats.
The BT Trap Range includes the BT 200 and BT 250. Both are precision‑calibrated and designed for reliable, humane dispatch. The choice depends on your trapping programme and housing preferences.

Yes. A safety bar is available as an optional accessory. It makes baiting and setting the trap safer and easier. (Sold separately.)
BT Traps are finished using glass‑bead blasting, a cleaner and more environmentally responsible alternative to acid‑dipping. This supports our commitment to a more sustainable New Zealand.
We stock the stainless steel BT Trap range, ideal for damp, humid, and coastal environments where corrosion resistance is essential.
BT Traps are paired with traditional wooden housings, featuring natural materials in a design that blends into the environment This housing ensures safe, effective deployment in the field.
Yes. BT Traps are high‑quality, humane kill traps that meet NAWAC standards for stoats and are widely used in conservation and pest‑control programmes.
For safer and easier setting, use the BT setting tool. This helps reduce operator strain and improve safety during servicing.
