Prefeeding

If rat numbers are high, they can eat the surrounding lures leaving a pea sized blob of Cyanara paste. This is not attractive to possums. It is advisable in these instances to prefeed with Ratabate Strikers one week prior to applying Cyanara.  This approach is advantageous as rats are controlled, and it also acts as a prefeed..

Application

To be under control of a Certified Handler. Ensure the Cyanara container is opened in a ventilated area.

Read the Safety Data Sheet. Adhere strictly to product label directions at all times.

Put gloves on before handling baits. Wash hands after use and before eating or smoking. Store in the original container in a cold dry place away from foodstuffs and under lock and key.

Bait should be placed on and near animal signs and as close to key food or play trees and possible nesting sites.

Spraying Connovation Lure-It pump with a blaze onto trees, around and leading up to the paste will act as a visual blaze and enticing fragrant lure will readily attract them and enhance feeding.

In cooler temperatures, massage the Cyanara tube before use as this makes it easier to form the optimum pea sized bait. Remove the over cap and pierce the nozzle using a nail to open the tube. Recap the tube when not in use.

Apply paste baits in the shade directly onto tree roots, forks of trees, stones, tin lids or plastic lids, and sharpened twigs. Place pea sized baits where there is evidence of possums like fresh droppings, bark biting, scratch marks, evidence of feeding browse or they have been observed at night in areas. After the Cyanara bait has been placed, lay flour and milk powder attractant around the bait, but do not place under or over the bait.

After Baiting

All remaining bait should be removed and destroyed. Dispose of product or of containers partially emptied, through an appropriate hazardous chemical disposal company. Crush and burn empty containers, or bury at a depth of at least 300mm.
