HISTORY

  • Controlling rats in New Zealand since 2011

ACTIVE INGREDIENT

  • Diphacinone 0.05g/kg

PRODUCT FEATURES

  • Hard block bait, each weighing 28 grams
  • Contains Diphacinone which has a short half-life and presents a low risk of secondary poisoning – making it ideal for environmentally conscious users
  • To prevent bait caching a hole through the centre of each block allows bait to be secured onto internal bait station spikes, wired, nailed or tied into place
  • Used by the Department of Conservation and leading pest controllers and conservationists
  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor use in bait stations
  • Antidote readily available
  • No Controlled Substance Licence (CSL) required

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

  • Has a short half-life in tissue and blood – 3 days (compared to the most commonly used 2nd generation anti-coagulant, Brodifacoum which has a half life of 130-300 days)
  • Minimal risk of secondary poisoning
  • Minimal risk to native birds

SAFETY FOR HANDLERS

  • Use in accordance with the Safety Data Sheet

HOW TO USE

  • For use in bait stations for rats such as our Run-Through, Zigzag and Philproof bait stations
  • For more information see our Best Practice guidelines

Use in bait stations only.

Locate bait in dry location near runways and nesting sites away from children, pets and domestic animals.

Maintain an uninterrupted supply of fresh bait for at least 10 days or longer if signs of rat activity continue.

What is D‑Block?

D‑Block is a 28‑gram hard‑block rodent bait containing the anticoagulant Diphacinone. It’s designed for reliable rat control in both indoor and outdoor environments when used in bait stations.

What is the active ingredient?

D‑Block contains Diphacinone (0.05 g/kg), a first‑generation anticoagulant with a short biological half‑life and low risk of secondary poisoning.

Why is Diphacinone considered environmentally safer?

Diphacinone breaks down quickly in animal tissue and blood — its half‑life is around 3 days, compared with 130–300 days for Brodifacoum. This means minimal risk of secondary poisoning, reduced impact on native birds and lower long‑term environmental persistence.

Is D‑Block safe for native wildlife?

When used correctly in bait stations, D‑Block presents minimal risk to native birds and non‑target species due to its short half‑life and lower secondary‑poisoning potential.

How do I prevent rats from carrying the bait away?

Each block has a hole through the centre, allowing it to be secured onto bait‑station spikes, wire, nails, or cable ties. This prevents bait caching and ensures rats consume the bait on‑site.

How should I handle D‑Block safely?

Always follow the Safety Data Sheet. Avoid skin contact, wash hands after handling, and store the bait securely away from food, children, and pets.
