DOC Trap Setting Tool

Use the standard purpose-made tool to safely and easily set DOC 200 and DOC 250 traps for stoat, ferret, rodent, and hedgehog control.

Likewise use the mini setting tool to safely and easily set DOC 150 and DOC 200 traps.

How to use the mini trap setting tool: Click here

  • Attach the tool: Place the rigid “C” shaped side of the tool on top of the trap box or frame, just to the right of the trigger arm and handle, letting the loose hooked side hang down.
  • Hook the handle: Use the hook on the tool to grab the trap’s main spring handle. 
  • Apply body weight: Place a knee or firm hand on the side of the wooden box to keep it steady and prevent it from tipping or pulling toward your face.
  • Pull and set: Pull the handle all the way up and over the trigger mechanism toward you, then guide it gently forward until the bottom of the trigger arm catches securely on the sear tab. 
  • Remove the tool: Carefully unhook the tool from the handle, lower the handle safely, and close the box lid.

Enhanced Safety: Keeps hands and fingers further away from the active striking zone during the setting process.

Which traps does the setting tool fit?
  • Designed specifically for DOC 200 and DOC 250 series traps.
  • Not required or compatible with smaller DOC 150 traps, which have lighter springs that are easily set by hand.
Do I really need a setting tool?
  • Highly recommended for DOC 200 and DOC 250 models due to their very stiff, powerful spring mechanisms.
  • Provides critical mechanical leverage to reduce physical strain and keep your hands safely away from the strike zone.
