Use possum traps on their own or alongside other
possum control
methods depending on your infestation levels.

Possum Trapping Tips

Boost your success rate with these practical possum trapping tips:

Put the trap in the right place – Placement depends on the trap you’re using and whether you’re trapping in urban areas, farmland, or bush. Generally, look for clear possum signs such as:

Possum droppings
Scratches on trees
Nibbled citrus, roses, or other shrubs

Attach the trap firmly and correctly – Always follow the specific instructions for your trap.

Attract the possum with a lure or bait – Use:

Apple or other fruit

Our lure range – either
edible lures
or
smell-based lures
(our solid lures attach to the wire inside the trap)

Replace the lure or bait frequently – It won’t attract possums once it loses its smell.

For added attraction, blaze the tree (add a strip of white to the tree to visually attract possums). You can use:

Flour – add a few drops of our
concentrated lure,
then wipe a handful of flour up the tree once (avoid multiple wipes, as excess flour will fall off).

Our scented lure spray,
which includes a white blaze – spray it directly onto the tree near your trap for both visual and scent attraction.

Note: These are general possum trapping tips. Results will vary depending on the trap used and your environment (urban, rural, or bush). For detailed guidance, refer to each trap’s instruction sheet.
